A set of ammunition boxes for the Panther in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Hauler adds a load to a model matching the long rounds of this machine.

An accessory set of small parts, not a kit of the vehicle. It holds ammunition boxes matching the type given in the name of the product. Boxes are one of the simplest ways of taking a finished model further: they do not touch the structure, they call for no changes to the kit, and yet they shift the whole from a clean shape to a machine that somebody operates.
The Panther was a medium-heavy tank with a long 75 mm barrel and with armor of sloped surfaces. A gun with a long barrel also meant exceptionally long rounds, which was reflected in the dimensions of the transport boxes - they are clearly longer than boxes for shorter ammunition of the same caliber. This difference is visible on a model in 1:48 scale and it is the main reason why the manufacturer releases boxes separately by type of machine.
The boxes are fitted right at the end of the build, after the vehicle has been weathered, or they will sink under the overall layer of dust. Degrease the small parts before painting and apply a primer; painting is most convenient while they are still on the fret or the casting block. Wood and pressed sheet on the boxes deserve a different approach: wood takes a brown base with individual planks lightened and a dark wash in the seams, sheet rather an even shade with the edges brought up. If you lay a box on a fender, add a thin layer of dust or soil underneath so that it does not look as though it is merely touching the surface.
This is an accessory for building a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
