Waterslide decals in 1:48 scale intended for the Antonov An-2 biplane. The name of the set gives only the aircraft type and the scale; check the contents of the sheet against the illustration on the packaging. These are decals, that is, an accessory for a model built from another kit.
The An-2 is a single-engined biplane with a large wing area, designed for operating from short, unpaved strips. It was used in agriculture, in transport, for parachuting and in flying clubs, and to this day it is among the most widespread aircraft of its category. For a modeler it is interesting for two things: the large areas that markings fit on, and covering that follows the ribs of the structure.
It is exactly the ribbing that is the main pitfall for decals on the An-2. The model has regular ripples on both the wing and the fuselage, over which a flat decal will not stick by itself: it bridges them and stays taut like a sail. The answer is a softening solution. Apply it in several light doses and let the decal dry between them. After the first dose the film wrinkles and goes white, which looks alarming but is a sign that the solution is working. Do not touch the decal while it is softened. Once dry it tightens and follows the shape of the surface; if bridging is left anywhere, repeat the dose, or pierce the crest of the rib with the tip of a scalpel so the air can escape, and go over it again.
The package holds decals only. The model, the paints and the softening solutions are not part of it.
