Big Ed Lancaster B Mk.III Dambuster PART II in 1:48 scale: the second Eduard photo-etch package for the famous bomber, covering the landing gear, the bomb bay and the radiators. The aircraft itself is not in the box.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second part of the accessory package concentrates on everything that is visible from the outside on a finished model. Eduard put into the box photo-etched sets devoted to the landing gear, the open bomb bay and the engine radiators, that is to the areas that draw the eye at first glance in 1:48 scale. This is not an aircraft kit but an extension of one for demanding builders.
The bombers of No. 617 Squadron flew over the dams low and with the bomb bay open, so it is precisely the innards of the fuselage and the massive landing gear that decide how convincing the result is. Photo-etch gives the ribbing of the bays, the stiffeners of the doors and the mesh of the radiators in thicknesses that injection-molded plastic physically cannot reproduce. The result is a machine a viewer will stop at even from below. Together with the first part, which covers the interior, it then makes up complete detailing of the whole airframe from the cockpit to the last door.
When gluing the larger photo-etched assemblies, brace them with a piece of plastic profile so that they hold a right angle. Bend the parts along the scored lines and, once fitted, unify the surface with a fine primer coat. On the radiators a dark glaze that brings out the depth of the honeycomb proves itself, and on the bomb bay doors light wear on the edges.
