The Eduard 1:48 B-24D Liberator photo-etched set is an extensive metal accessory aimed at the cockpit area and the engine nacelles of a heavy bomber model.
Responsibility details are not available.
According to the name, the contents are aimed in two directions: at the crew area in the front and at the engine sections. It is one of the more extensive items in Eduard's photo-etched range. It is not an aircraft kit but a metal upgrade that the modeler applies to a plastic basis.
The Consolidated B-24D was a four-engined heavy bomber with long range, recognizable by the narrow wing set high on the fuselage and by the twin vertical tail surfaces. It was the D version that carried the weight of the low-level raid on the oil facilities at Ploiesti in August 1943, one of the heaviest-loss operations flown by the US Army Air Forces. Machines of the same type also served over the Atlantic against submarines. The wingspan exceeded thirty-three meters and the range was among the longest in its category.
With a more extensive set it makes sense to split the work into stages. Finish and paint the cockpit interior before the fuselage halves are joined, because later you will no longer reach it. Dry-fit the metal parts of the engine sections until they sit without tension. Bend thin grilles over a cylindrical object so the curve stays smooth. Cut longer straight strips only at the moment you are about to fit them.
