A set of masking films for the extensive glazing of the North American B-25B Mitchell bomber in 1:48 scale. It covers the glazing from both sides and is cut for the Accurate Miniatures kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The B was the second production form of the twin-engine bomber and it was easy to tell apart from the later ones: it had no tail gun position and it carried a retractable ventral turret that the gunners aimed through a periscope and frankly hated. These are the aircraft behind the most famous episode of the whole type.
On April 18, 1942, sixteen of these bombers took off from the deck of an aircraft carrier in the middle of the Pacific, although nothing of the kind had been foreseen in the design. The crews struck the Japanese home islands and then flew on over China; the damage was small, the effect on morale on both sides enormous. Because of weight, the ventral turret and the bombsight were removed before the raid and dummy barrels made from broom handles were fitted in the tail.
The glazed navigator's nose, the pilot's canopy, the side windows and the glazing of the gun positions add up to a large area with irregular frames. The die-cut parts break it down into individual shapes and go on before the base color is sprayed. The masking is laid out for the outer side as well as the inner one.
The package holds no plastic components.
