1:48 B-25B Mitchell canopy mask Academy/Accurate is a set of cut stencils for the glazing of the early version of the B-25 bomber in forty-eighth scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is cut to the clear parts of the early version of the Mitchell and covers their framing. On a twin-engine bomber the glazing is extensive and broken up, so pre-cut stencils pay off most of all right here: the frames come out equally wide along their whole length and the edges stay sharp even where they converge at a sharp angle. The kit to whose shape the set is cut is named in the name of the item.
The B-25B was one of the first production forms of the Mitchell and differed noticeably from later versions in its armament. It carried a rotating dorsal turret and, under the fuselage, a retractable lower turret operated remotely through a periscope, which did not prove itself in practice and disappeared from later machines. It did not yet have a tail gunner's position. This very version became famous for the raid by a formation of bombers launched from the deck of an aircraft carrier in April 1942, that is from surroundings a twin-engine bomber was never built for at all.
The clear parts call for more preparation than on a fighter. Try them dry, check that they do not overhang the outline of the fuselage anywhere, and do any sanding before you lay anything on the glass. Then apply the stencils to a clean surface treated with nothing, and lead the spray in short passes from various directions, so that the paint reaches evenly into the corners between the frames as well.
