A set of die-cut films for the twin-engine B-25G Mitchell bomber in 1:48 scale. It covers the glazing of the cockpit from outside as well as from inside and completes it with stencils for spraying the national markings.
Responsibility details are not available.
The G version came about from the need to destroy Japanese shipping targets without having to descend into the range of light cannon. The glazed nose of the navigator disappeared and a solid shell with a short 75 mm howitzer took its place, loaded by hand by a second member of the crew. The firing was slow and the shocks noticeable, and yet an effective tactic of attacks at low altitude developed from it, which even more heavily armed later variants followed up. Crews grew fond of the machine mainly because it withstood damage and got home even on one engine.
A bomber carries national markings in dimensions that are decently large in this scale. A decal for such an area is laid down badly: you can no longer push a bubble in the middle out to the edge, the film folds easily and it is enough for the surface not to be perfectly flat. A stencil is pressed down piece by piece, no carrier film comes with it and the paint covers the riveting along with a panel line. The larger the marking, the more markedly that difference shows.
The die-cut pieces follow the cockpit framing of a particular kit and some of the parts are intended for the inner side of the glazing. The stencils of the markings come in two sets. Finish the camouflage first, let it cure properly, and only then stick down the stencils. The delivery consists exclusively of films; the model and the shades the modeler takes care of himself. Sort the small pieces out on a surface in advance, so that they do not get tangled during transfer.
