A set of self-adhesive masking stencils made of kabuki tape for a model of the B-26 Invader in 1:48 scale, in the basic BASIC extent. An accessory to a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas B-26 Invader is an American twin-engine piston ground attack and bomber aircraft. It originally carried the designation A-26, was redesignated B-26 after 1948 and served in that form long after the Second World War. You can recognize it by the slim fuselage with a glazed or solid nose, the wing with smooth surfaces and the large cockpit glazing, which is the most demanding part to mask when building the model.
Pre-cut masking stencils of kabuki tape for a model in 1:48 scale. The BASIC designation tells the basic extent of the set apart from the more broadly conceived EXPERT version, which the manufacturer makes as a separate item; what exactly the package covers and which kit it is prepared for is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Kabuki tape is self-adhesive, follows slightly bulged surfaces well and leaves no adhesive residue once removed.
The masks are stuck on before spraying, onto a clean and degreased surface. Lift the stencil off the backing with pointed tweezers, seat it in the frame of the glazing and press it down with a toothpick all the way round, so that no paint seeps under the edge. Cover the remaining areas with tape or masking fluid. Apply the paint in thin coats; a thick coat will leave a ridge at the edge. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it at an angle across itself rather than straight up.
The aircraft kit, paints and masking fluid are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
