1:48 B-26B-50 Invader, glazing mask for the later production series of the attack aircraft that flew night interdiction over Korea, from the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Masks cut for the glazing of the ICM kit, that is the later production series of the attack Invader with a gun nose. They serve both for spraying the frames and for protecting the clear areas while the whole model is painted.
When the twin-engine Marauder left service in 1948, the designation B-26 was freed up and the US Air Force transferred it to the Invader. The same machine thus served under two names, which still causes confusion today. In Korea it proved itself above all in night interdiction against transport columns and railway lines, with the crews working in the dark low over the terrain. The late production blocks can be told apart among other things by a revised cockpit with a better view, which crews flying in the dark had every right to expect.
First let the shade of the interior dry, then fit the masks and apply a thin covering coat. Only after that comes the top color. Anyone who covers the glazing before the fuselage is glued together saves trouble with the parts seating on the edges. Lift the mask off while the finish is not yet fully cured. On degreased glass it holds considerably better than on a surface with fingerprints, so cleaning is not worth skipping even on small areas.
