Masks 1:48 for the Nakajima B5N2 Kate from the manufacturer Dead Design are precisely cut self-adhesive masks for the long cabin glazing. They replace tedious hand masking with narrow tape.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set brings self-adhesive masks cut to the shape of the individual panes of the cabin in 1:48 scale. The procedure is simple: you place the masks on the glazing, spray the aircraft together with the frames and take the masks off once dry. That saves you the most laborious and at the same time the most delicate part of painting, the one where a crooked edge or paint run under the tape most often happens.
The Nakajima B5N, designated Kate by the Allies, was a Japanese carrier-borne torpedo and level bomber. The B5N2 version had a more powerful radial engine and formed the backbone of the carrier strike units in the first half of the war in the Pacific. The crew of three sat under elongated glazing that runs from the pilot's compartment back past the rear gunner's position, which is exactly why masking is so tedious on this type.
First degrease the glazing. Lift the masks off with a scalpel, place them with tweezers and press the edges down with a wooden toothpick. Spray the paint in thin coats; make the first coat in the shade of the cabin interior, so that the frames look right from the inside as well. Take the masks off shortly after the paint is dry to the touch and pull them off at an angle, not straight up. Before buying, check that the set matches your particular kit; the shape of the glazing differs between kits from different manufacturers.
This is an aid for painting a plastic kit, not a model. Paints and the kit are not included in the package.
