This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings fine photo-etched metal parts for refining plastic models of the BAC (English Electric) Lightning fighter in the F.2 and F.6 versions in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit: it is an accessory meant to be built into a base kit already under construction. The photo-etched parts refine above all the cockpit and the interior, and where applicable the exterior details that plastic cannot render faithfully.
The Lightning was a British supersonic interceptor of the Cold War with the unusual arrangement of two jet engines one above the other. It excelled in a phenomenal rate of climb and in the ability to fly at around twice the speed of sound, and it could climb almost vertically. It served the Royal Air Force for several decades as a fast defense of the airspace.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife, bend them in a bending tool and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with epoxy. Painting and a gentle wash will bring out the structure of the details.
This is an accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
