It is still among the popular real subjects of the Japanese scene today, and modelers build it in road and circuit form alike. Sixteen-inch wheels belong to this generation, and in 1:24 scale they come out as a rim roughly seventeen millimeters across.

The wheels will replace the rims from a kit. It is the rims in particular that decide the character of a Japanese coupe of the 1990s more than most other details, because the ratio of a smaller wheel and a taller sidewall is typical of this period. Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down, so that the mating surface stays flat. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, and choose the glue according to the material of the parts. A smaller wheel forgives less than a large one: an unevenness on the edge of the rim shows well at seventeen millimeters, so do not rush the sanding. Draw a light shade of rim out with a dark wash into the space between the spokes and darken the inside of the wheel arch, otherwise the wheel will merge with it. Finally stand the model on a flat board and check that it stands on all the wheels at once.
