Replacement wheels for a BAC TSR.2 model in 1:48 scale. The tires are shaped with the flattening that appears under the weight of a standing aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of replacement wheels for a model of the British TSR.2 aircraft. The tires are not perfectly round: in the contact patch they are shaped with the flattening that appears under the weight of a standing machine. Thanks to that the finished model rests on the surface instead of merely touching it.
The TSR.2 was a British tactical bomber and reconnaissance aircraft of the first half of the 1960s. Only a few airframes were built, only one of them flew and the program was stopped in 1965, so it never reached production. What remains is a slender fuselage with a sharp nose and a small wing area, a silhouette nobody would mistake on a shelf.
A wheel is a small part, but on a finished model it is seen from close up and tends to be at eye level. A separately produced wheel is usually more readable in the layout of the rim, in the transition between the rim and the tire and in the shape of the sidewall. The flattening then gives the whole build a sense of weight that is otherwise hard to fake.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the contact face is left untouched. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. When setting them, make sure the flattened part points to the ground and that all the wheels rest in the same plane; check it on a flat board while the glue cures. Adapt the glue and the exact procedure to the material of the parts, following the manufacturer's instructions.
The package contains the wheels. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
