This item is not a kit of an airplane but a resin accessory from the Aires brand. It replaces the exhaust nozzles on a model of the first-generation Harrier in 1:48 scale and covers the single-seat and two-seat versions given in the name. The Harrier is an aircraft with short take-off and vertical landing whose powerplant takes the thrust away through four swiveling nozzles on the sides of the fuselage - and it is precisely those that are characteristic of the silhouette of the machine.
On the Harrier the nozzles are large, broken up and stand right in the viewer's line of sight. A plastic kit handles them with split parts on which a parting seam stays and the wall comes out too thick. A resin casting allows a thin edge, a deeper inside and a sharp edge without any need to fill and sand a seam. On the versions with cold front and hot rear nozzles the surface finish and the coloring differ as well, and that is easier to paint on a resin part than on glued plastic.
Wash the parts in warm water with detergent, because otherwise paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, level the mating surfaces wet on sandpaper and protect your breathing. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Try the nozzles dry and check that all four are at the same angle of rotation - on a model standing on the ground they tend to be turned to the rear. Apply the metallic shades onto a smooth gloss base and build the heat staining up in layers with thinned transparent paints.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
