This photo-etched set from the Czech maker Hauler is used to make barbed wire true to scale in 1:48. The thin metal strips with etched barbs can be bent and twisted into any shape, so you can make straight fences as well as loosely coiled entanglements. It is not a model: it is a diorama accessory for fortifications, defensive lines and military corners around the main model.
Barbed wire is a key element of combat and guard scenes: strung between posts or coiled into an entanglement, it immediately creates the atmosphere of a front line, a camp or the perimeter of a base.
Separate the strips with a sharp knife and twist them if you want a more three-dimensional effect. Attach them to the posts and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The metal takes a dark primer well; final rust and weathering with washes and pigments give the wire a worn look.
This is an accessory for a scene, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the glue, the paints and the posts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
