The set contains bare feet for a figure in 1:48 scale. It is not a model and not a whole figure but a replacement part. A bare foot is used on a modeling scene more often than one would expect — on bathing figures, on a resting soldier, in a field dressing station, on civilian figures in a warm climate and in genre scenes. The same subject comes out in further scales too; choose according to the scale of your figure.
Plastic figures are practically always supplied shod, because a bare foot is hard to mold. A separate casting solves this problem and allows a scene to be built where a figure has just taken its boots off or is wading through water. It finds a use in building sculptural and genre figures outside military subjects as well. In 1:48 scale these are very small parts, so work with tweezers.
First separate the part from the casting system with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and level the trace of the sprue gate with a finer-grit sandpaper. If the set is cast in resin, wash it in lukewarm water with a detergent before painting to rid it of residues of the release agent, and choose the glue according to the material: on resin a cyanoacrylate super glue, on plastic parts a thin glue for plastic. Sand resin wet and with protection for your airways.
A bare foot stands and falls on the painting of skin. Start from a medium flesh color, glaze thinly and only then add two shades — a warmer, reddish one on the instep and the toes and a cooler shadow into the arch and between the toes. Only suggest the nails with a lighter tone, as drawing them in 1:48 makes no sense. Keep the sole under the ankle noticeably darker and, according to the scene, add dust or mud. Even the joint with the trouser leg of the figure out with a two-part compound.
This is an accessory for a figure, not a model on its own. The set is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the figure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
