A bathtub is one of those objects that define by themselves what a viewer is looking at: as soon as they see it in an interior scene, they know it is a bathroom, and the rest of the equipment merely adds detail. That is exactly why it is a good starting object around which a small interior vignette can be built.
The accessory suits interior vignettes with civilian figures, a cutaway of a residential house and a scene of a destroyed building where the bathroom can be seen from outside — in such compositions a bathtub tends to be the most striking recognizable element. It combines well with other bathroom accessories in the same scale. The 1:48 scale makes it possible to build a whole room on a small area, so it also suits modelers with limited display space. The manufacturer also makes the same subject in further scales.
With sanitary objects the smoothness of the surface decides everything: sand the surfaces smooth and leave the edges sharp, otherwise the tub will not look like glazed ceramic or enameled sheet metal. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts — cyanoacrylate super glue for resin and printed parts, modeling cement for plastic on injection-molded parts. Lay down a filler primer and correct the flaws the primer reveals, because on a glossy surface everything shows later. Spray the paint rather than brushing it and seal the surface with a gloss varnish. Set the taps and the drain apart in a metallic shade, and you can darken the inside of the tub with a fine wash. If the scene calls for wear, suggest chipped enamel with small dark dots and rust around them — on a well-kept bathroom, by contrast, leave the surface clean.
