Model Maker 1:48 decals - Belgian F-16s, national insignia and technical stenciling are a universal set for adding markings to a finished model. The name designates it as generic, that is, not tied to a single machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This decal set in 1:48 scale from the brand Model Maker is one of the so-called generic ones, as its name also states. It is not tied to one particular machine but offers the national insignia and technical stenciling of Belgian F-16s, that is, the elements the aircraft have in common across individual examples. No model is built from it - it is an accessory for marking a model that is already built and painted.
Technical stenciling, that is, the small warning and service texts around filler necks, access panels and the ejection seat, tends to be the first thing skimped on in kits. And yet it is exactly that which makes a contemporary fighter believable: without it the surface of a model looks empty. A universal sheet can be divided among several kits and also helps where the original kit decals have yellowed or broken up with age.
Small elements are harder to lay down than large ones, because they easily stick to tweezers or roll up. It pays to cut them out only at the moment you apply them and to carry them on a dampened brush instead of tweezers. The surface has to be glossy and smooth. Once a piece is placed, blot the water away and only then add a drop of softener, so the legend settles into the engraved lines and over the riveting. For the smallest texts a weaker softener is enough; a strong one could wrinkle them so much that they would be damaged. Finally even the whole model out with a matte or satin varnish.
The decals are supplied on their own. The kit, the paints and the softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
