An accurately cut set of spray masks from Art Scale for the Special Hobby plastic model of the Bell AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter in 1:48 scale. This is not a kit but a set of masking templates in quality kabuki paper. It is a single-sided Express set: the masks are pre-cut and intended for the outside of the glazing, so they go on quickly.

The real subject

The AH-1G Cobra was an American attack helicopter, the first machine of its category deployed in any numbers, and it became famous above all from the Vietnam War. Its narrow fuselage with the extensive glazing of the tandem cockpit offers large framed areas that are slow to cover by hand.

How to use the masks

• Transfer the pre-cut numbered parts to the outside of the glazing according to the diagram.
• Lift the mask off the backing, lay it on and press the edges down carefully.
• Cover the rest of the glass with tape or liquid mask and spray in thin coats.
• Peel the masks off shortly after spraying, for crisp frame edges.
