A masking set for the Bell OH-13 Sioux in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard holds pre-die-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing of the helicopter.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is not a kit nor a photo-etched set but a masking set. It holds pre-die-cut self-adhesive masks, which you stick onto the glazing of the model, spray the frame and then peel the mask off. The result is a sharp transition between the glass and the frame without laborious cutting of tape with a knife and without paint creeping underneath.
The OH-13 Sioux has its typical spherical cockpit, on which the glazing is the dominant part of the model. It is exactly here that hand-cut tape follows a curved surface worst and every crooked transition shows most. A die-cut mask fits the shape of the part and saves the most tiresome part of the build. On top of that it reduces the risk of scratching the clear glass while cutting tape directly on the part, which is a mistake that can no longer be put right.
Wash and degrease the glazing before masking, as a mask will not hold on a greasy surface. Lift the mask up with the tip of a knife or with tweezers and press it down all the way round, above all in the corners. Spray the paint in thin layers, as a thick layer will creep under the edge and make a step. Peel the mask off while the paint is freshly dried, not after longer maturing, when a piece of the frame can come away with the paint. On curved glazing it helps to warm the mask slightly, so that it takes the shape.
It is an accessory for a plastic kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. Other Eduard accessories for the same helicopter carry the same designation, namely full photo-etched sets and pre-painted sets of the Zoom range. This item is a masking set.
