Film for masking the cockpit and the insignia of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 in 1:48. Masking from the outer and the inner side, one set of masks and a sheet of printed marking.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Emil in the E-3 version was the typical opponent of British fighters over France and over southern England. Its DB 601A engine with direct fuel injection allowed it to go into a dive without the engine stumbling, something the carburetor machines could do only by rolling inverted first. The armament consisted of two MG 17 machine guns above the engine and a pair of MG FF cannons in the wing. The angular canopy with its many straight frames is the recognition mark of the whole Emil family for a modeler.
Decals in a box left aside for a long time turn yellow, the carrier film goes brittle and breaks into pieces when soaked. Anyone who has opened a kit after ten years knows that the sheet becomes a lottery. Die-cut film does not go through that, because it does not stay on the model; it serves only as a temporary boundary for the paint and then goes in the bin.
Straight frames are an advantage: the pieces can be laid down quickly and the edge is easily aligned with the engraving. Check, though, that neighboring pieces do not overlap, otherwise a visible step appears in the paint. The masks are based on the molding from Eduard. Anyone building a machine with the side window lowered should dry-fit the piece first. The hinged window sits at a different angle and the film occasionally has to be shortened.
