Decals with national insignia for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E, part one cover markings and vertical tail surfaces from the period 1937 to 1943 in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet is not focused on one particular machine but on markings as such. According to the name it contains national insignia, crosses and motifs for the vertical tail surfaces for the period from 1937 to 1943. It therefore suits as an accessory to Emil kits where you want to put the markings together in your own way or to replace yellowed decals from the box.
The form of German aircraft insignia changed several times during the war. The width of the white outline, the proportions of the arms of the cross and the placement on the fuselage and the wing all differed, and the differences are noticeable even between individual production batches. A builder who dates a machine to a particular month needs the matching shape of the insignia, otherwise the model looks inaccurate even with an otherwise perfect build.
Prepare the surface under the decals smooth and slightly glossy, as silvering shows up more easily on a matte surface. Cut the motifs close to the edge of the printing and settle them on a wet area, so that they can still be moved for a while. Once dry, unify the surface with a varnish matching the finish you have chosen.
The period defined, from 1937 to 1943, reaches from prewar machines to the use of the Emils over the Channel, the Balkans and North Africa. A slightly different form of the insignia on the fuselage and on the vertical tail surface belongs to each of those stages, so the sheet makes it possible to put the markings together according to the date you choose for your model.
