A crystal-clear vacuum-formed (vacuform) canopy from the Czech manufacturer Rob Taurus, intended to replace the injection-molded part from the kit for models of the Messerschmitt Bf 110 E heavy fighter in 1:48 scale. This is not an aircraft model, but a modeling accessory that greatly improves the look of the glazing. This variant is prepared for a closed canopy.
A vacuum-formed part has much thinner and cleaner walls than most plastic canopies from kits. The result is a truer impression of scale, better optical clarity and more finely drawn frames. On the multi-part canopy of the two-seat Bf 110 this means a noticeably more convincing result.
Cut the part out carefully around the edge with a sharp knife or scissors, sand the edges to the required shape and try the canopy on dry. It is bonded with clear PVA glue or with spots of super glue (cyanoacrylate) so that it does not fog. Greater clarity can be had by dipping it in a modeling polish. Mask the frames before spraying.
This is a clear replacement canopy, not a complete kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
