Resin oil tanks for the German Messerschmitt Bf 110 heavy fighter aircraft in 1:48 scale from the maker Quickboost. It is not a model of the airplane but a precisely cast detail part that will sharpen up the engine nacelles on a build with the cowling left open or in a diorama scene.
The Bf 110 was a twin-engine bomber destroyer (Zerstörer) deployed by the Luftwaffe in the Second World War as a heavy fighter and as a night fighter; it was powered by a pair of Daimler-Benz DB 601 inverted V12 engines. The oil tanks belong among the items of the engine installation that show once the panels of the cowling are taken off. The resin parts offer a more faithful shape and a finer surface than solid injection-molded substitutes, so an exposed powerplant reads more convincingly.
Resin parts call for more careful preparation: wash them in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting block carefully and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the tanks in a metallic or period shade of the installation, add a fine wash in the recesses and traces of the dirt of oil in service.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
