Self-adhesive masks for spraying the insignia of the Blackburn Buccaneer aircraft in 1:48 scale. According to the name they are cut for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Blackburn Buccaneer was a British twin-engine strike aircraft intended originally for carrier service; later it flew with land-based squadrons as well. It was built on attack at low altitude and high speed, which a robust structure with a deep fuselage and fairly small lifting surfaces matched.
The set serves for spraying the insignia instead of decals. According to the name it is cut for the Airfix kit in 1:48 scale; with another kit, lay the masks on dry first and check whether the shapes and the spacing match your parts.
Wash the surface under the mask, degrease it and let it dry. Apply the mask to a finished colored base before spraying the insignia and press the edges down carefully so that paint does not run under them. On the rounded side of the fuselage, lay the mask from the center toward the edges so that it does not crease. Spray several thin coats and let them set; multicolored insignia are sprayed coat by coat in the order given in the manufacturer's instructions. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, pulling at a slight angle.
The set suits modelers who dislike decal silvering and want the insignia as part of the finish, that is under subsequent dusting and wear as well. The work is slower than with decals, but the result looks like a genuine sprayed finish. This is an accessory: the kit, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
