Photo-etched seat belts in steel for a model of the Boeing F/A-18F in 1:48 scale. They complete the fit-out of the seats in an open cockpit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Seat belts are the first thing anyone notices in an open cockpit. A seat without them looks empty and no amount of painting will fix that impression. The set is listed for the Boeing F/A-18F in 1:48 scale, that is, for the two-seat version, where the cockpit area is long and clearly visible through the glazing. The scope of the set and the placement of the individual parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are made of steel. Compared with softer metals, steel is springier, so it holds its shape but is harder to persuade into a curve. Shape the belt gradually over a rounded object, for example over the handle of a pair of tweezers, and hold the bend until the glue grips. The advantage is that the finished belt does not slacken and keeps a natural sag over the edge of the seat even after the model has been handled several times.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, as pliers would twist them. Finish the seat first and place the belts only on the finished one, or you will not reach them with a brush. They are bonded with super glue applied in a minute amount on the contact surface; an excess turns white on metal and shows. Make the sag of the belt loose, as a belt stretched taut over the seat looks unnatural. Wash and degrease the metal before any painting.
The aircraft model, the seats, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
