The full photo-etched set 1:48 Boston III/US DB-7B bomb bay completes the bomb bay of the bomber with metal parts which cannot be created from molded plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
With twin-engine bombers the space for the bombs is usually the weakest point of a kit: the walls are smooth, the stiffeners only shallowly suggested, and once the doors are opened the view goes into emptiness. This metal set brings parts which fill the inside of the bomb bay with thin-walled structural items and racks. Metal a few hundredths of a millimeter thick does what an injection mold cannot manage, namely keep the correct scale thickness of the ribs and of the tiny mountings.
An open bomb bay is among the views that sell a finished model on an exhibition table. At the same time it is a place where shades and traces of service can be worked with well, because in period photographs the space tends to be distinctly darker than the surrounding skin. If you leave the doors closed, the benefit of the set is lost. It pays off to count on it even when you plan to hang the bombs, because the racks themselves would otherwise stay with no surrounding structure.
Before gluing, try dry whether the assembled walls increase the inner dimension so much that the doors will not close. Lead the bends over a metal ruler and glue in small sections, so that a long part does not twist. Apply the primer only after degreasing.
The set is purely metal; the plastic of the bomber is bought separately.
