A plastic kit model of the British Sherman IC Firefly tank in 1:48 scale from Tamiya, from the Military Miniatures series. The model captures the characteristic modification of the turret for the longer gun and the elongated barrel, by which the Firefly was easily recognized on the battlefield.
The Firefly was a British combat conversion of the American Sherman tank, into whose turret a powerful 17-pounder anti-tank gun was built. Thanks to it, it became one of the few Allied tanks able to face heavy German vehicles at ordinary combat ranges. The IC designation refers to the basis in the Sherman version with the corresponding type of hull. The Firefly made its mark after the landing in Normandy and in the further fighting in Western Europe.
Finish the running gear and the lower detail before closing up the hull. Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement and give the surfaces a base coat (primer) for the airbrush. Olive green shades with Allied markings suit British tanks; the long barrel was sometimes camouflaged in two colors. Washes, pigments and rubbing the edges with a dry brush will complete the weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
