1:48 Gnome-Rhone 14K captures the French radial engine of the interwar era in a form suitable for an exposed nacelle or for a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory item for modelers who want to show what is under the engine cowling instead of a smooth cover. It captures the French twin-row radial engine that was among the most widespread powerplants of the 1930s. The package is an accessory to a kit, and the aircraft itself is not in it.
The 14K family came through at a time when radial engines were only learning to combine power with an acceptable diameter, and the French company scored with it beyond its borders as well. Licensed production started up in several countries and the engine therefore powered machines of Polish, Romanian, Japanese and Italian provenance, not only French ones. Thanks to that a modeler meets it on a surprisingly wide range of aircraft, from fighters with fixed landing gear to twin-engine bombers of the mid-1930s. For a model it is interesting for its typical arrangement of two rows of cylinders with the prominent valve gear ring at the front.
Lay the base down in a dark shade and then go over the cylinder heads with a dry brush, so that the cooling fins are highlighted. Leave the engine case more matte than the cylinders, otherwise the whole thing reads as a single casting. If you place the engine into a maintenance diorama, add traces of oil to the lower part, for which these engines became famous.
