1:48 Republic P-47N Thunderbolt is a full Eduard photo-etched set for finishing off a model of this fighter. It is an accessory for a kit, not a model.

A full photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the P-47N aircraft in 1:48 scale. Against the smaller pre-painted set of the Zoom line, aimed mainly at the cockpit, this is a more extensive set of metal parts which replace and add plastic features in places where plastic cannot hold a scale thickness. Eduard also makes photo-etched sets of the same aircraft cut for kits by other makers, so check before buying that the set matches the kit you have. The kit is not included in the package.
The P-47N was the last production version of the Thunderbolt and came about as a long-range escort fighter for the Pacific theater. It received a new wing with integral fuel tanks and a greater span, which fundamentally extended the range but raised the takeoff weight. The power came from a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine with a turbocharger, thanks to which the aircraft kept its performance even at great altitudes. A robust structure and heavy armament also made it an effective machine for attacks on ground targets.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard support and make the folds in a bending tool or between the jaws of flat pliers. Metal is glued with super glue, and stressed joints with epoxy. Degrease the parts that are not pre-painted and go over them with a primer. The cockpit goes into the fuselage of a Thunderbolt as a whole, so assemble and paint it before you glue the fuselage together. A drop of gloss varnish suits the photo-etched dials and stands in for the glass.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model on its own. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
