Among truck models the 1:24 scale is one of the largest that is commonly built: the finished model takes a respectable amount of room on a shelf and at the same time offers plenty of space for detail work on the cab, the frame and the chassis.
Büssing was a vehicle maker from Braunschweig, one of the key names of German road haulage. In the 1950s and 1960s the 8000 series was among the heavy long-distance trucks that carried goods along the newly built autobahns and were part of the everyday picture of postwar Western Europe. The marque was absorbed into the MAN group in 1971, and the Braunschweig lion from its badge became part of the MAN badge, where it is used to this day.
With large truck models it pays to work in subassemblies: first the frame with the axles, then the power unit and the cab, and only at the end joining the whole together. Spray the body surfaces over a primer and let the gloss color cure thoroughly, otherwise the decals will sink into it. Deal with the gloss and chrome details on their own and glue them on only once the paint has dried. Before the decals comes a gloss coat, after them a matte or satin one depending on how well-worn you want the vehicle to look. Keep the weathering restrained: dust on the chassis and faint traces of service on the fenders and the steps do more than overall grime.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
