Stencils for the arctic splinter finish of the F-16 aggressor. Sharply cut fields for a plastic model at a ratio of 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
The splinter finish has its roots deep in the last century and the idea behind it has not changed since: to break the continuous shape of the machine into unconnected polygons, so that the eye cannot judge which way the aircraft is heading. The arctic variant works with white, ice blue and several cool gray tones, because the background is snowy plains and low cloud.
Every field has straight sides and sharp vertices. Neighboring areas fit into one another like tiles and the boundary between them continues from the wing onto the fuselage, across the engine cover and all the way to the tail surfaces. When a modeler places one boundary slightly differently, the error chains on and the last field no longer seats at all. Cut shapes remove that problem, because they carry the mutual relationships of all the areas within themselves.
It is worth proceeding in layers from the bottom up in order of saturation and not hurrying between them. A shape laid on holds best on a surface that has had at least a day to cure. Hold the nozzle perpendicular, lower the pressure and lay the paint down in two passes; one heavy coat will bleed under the edge and the precision of the cut will go to waste.
Once the last group of shapes comes off, check the vertices of the angles. It is in the points that a thin strip of the base shade is most often left, and it is easy to retouch with a brush.
The set contains only the stencils. The paints and the kit have to be arranged separately.
