The Phantom II is a two-seat fighter that served with the US Air Force as well as the navy and became one of the most widespread combat machines of its time. The J and S versions flew with the naval air arm, the C and D versions with the US Air Force. All of them have extensive canopy glazing divided into several parts, the masking of which is among the most tiresome jobs before painting.
The package holds cut masks for the canopy glazing and for the landing gear wheels in 1:48 scale. The set covers four Zoukei-Mura kits from the SWS series, specifically the items numbered 4, 5, 6 and 7, that is the J, S, C and D versions. So you do not have to cover the frames with strips of tape and the boundary of the finish comes out equally sharp on every part.
Wash the transparent parts with lukewarm water and let them dry; a greasy fingerprint under a mask does more harm than dust. Line the mask up with the frame and press the edge down with a toothpick. Spray the interior shade first, the exterior finish once that has dried, and then take the mask off. On the wheels, spray the tire color and remove the mask as soon as the layer is dry to the touch. Before sticking them on, check which mask belongs to which version.
The set suits builders of Phantoms who want their canopy frames sharp and the same on all their models, and also anyone who once masked the glazing of a Phantom by hand and does not want to go through it a second time. The contents are the masks only; the model, the paints and the glue are not part of them, unless stated otherwise.
