Stencils for spraying the glazing frames of the Cessna O-2 observation aircraft in its early production form, 1:48 scale. The cabin here is generously glazed indeed, from the curved windscreen through the windows in the doors to the panes at the rear, and every one of those edges wants a straight line. The manufacturer of the target kit is given in the name of the item.
The O-2 is based on a civil twin-engine machine with an unusual layout: one engine with a propeller at the front, the other behind the cabin with a pusher propeller, both on the fuselage axis. The tail surfaces are therefore carried by two booms. The advantage is that with one engine out the aircraft does not pull to one side. In the role of a forward air controller it replaced an older single-engine type and its crews sought out targets, marked them with smoke rockets and directed attack aircraft onto them. The variant for psychological operations carried loudspeakers and dropped leaflets.
