British Mk.IX bombsight 1:48 (Eduard)

This set from the Brassin modeling range brings a faithful model of the British Course Setting Bomb Sight Mk.IX in 1:48 scale. The crews of Allied bombers and patrol aircraft used this instrument during the Second World War to work out the moment of bomb release. The parts are made by direct 3D printing in resin and offer a fineness that cannot be molded from plastic.

Material and building

  • The parts are printed in resin; before building, wash them and separate them gently from the print supports.
  • Given how small they are, work carefully; glue with cyanoacrylate glue.
  • Sand the cut faces with respiratory protection.
  • Spray the bombsight in metal shades and bring out the small details.
