A LooKplus accessory set for the 1:48 model of the Curtiss P-40E Warhawk fighter, in the version with rounded exhaust stacks.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss P-40E Warhawk was an American single-engine fighter of the Second World War. Power came from the Allison V-1710, a liquid-cooled V12, whose radiator gave the aircraft its distinctive deep chin under the nose. The armament was six 12.7 mm machine guns in the wing. The aircraft was not among the best performers of its day at high altitude, but it was sturdy, took rough handling and did well down low, so it served from North Africa through the Pacific to the Eastern Front.
The name of the set explicitly states the version with rounded exhaust stacks. On the P-40E the shape of the exhaust stacks differed between production batches: alongside the rounded shape there was also a flat, laterally flared one. It is a small thing, but one you notice at once on the model, because the exhausts sit on the side of the nose right in the line of sight. When building, check which version was carried by the particular aircraft you are modeling.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand off the rest; wash and degrease the parts before painting so that the paint holds. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and check the exact procedure in the manufacturer's instructions. Dry-fit the parts in the fuselage before gluing and expect that the openings in the plastic part may need slight adjustment. The exhausts suit a dark metallic base with rust and soot shades added.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
