A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the American Curtiss P-40N fighter. An accessory for a finished kit, not a model in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss P-40 is an American single-engine fighter of the Second World War, recognizable by the radiator under the nose, its low-set wing and retractable landing gear. It is powered by the liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 V12 engine. The N version is the late configuration of the whole family: the structure was lightened and the rear fuselage behind the cockpit was given a lower shape, so the pilot could see better to the rear. The airplane served with American, British, Soviet and Australian units and is among the most-built subjects of its period.
Photo-etched parts from thin metal sheet for a model in 1:48 scale. The etching replaces the places where injection-molded plastic comes across as oversized: flat covers, grilles, belts and small details inside and out. The extent of the set, the fitting procedure and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so check the match with your model before you start building.
Plan the work in advance, because most photo-etched parts are fitted during the build, not onto a finished model. Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tabs down. Make the folds in a bending tool or between two blades. Bond the metal with cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a needle; excess is hard to remove and dulls the surrounding finish. Degrease the parts before painting and spray a primer for metal, otherwise the finish will flake off with handling.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
