An accessory for a kit, not a model. The LööKplus range from the Czech company Eduard is built on a different principle from classic photo-etched sets: the basis is finished pre-painted cockpit parts, to which the manufacturer adds further details in one package. The exact make-up of the particular package is given by the manufacturer on the packaging and in the instructions.
The Vampire F.3 is an early production form of the British single-engined jet fighter with a short fuselage nacelle and twin tail booms. The cockpit is fairly large in relation to the overall length of the machine, and with the canopy open it makes up a substantial part of what is visible on the model — which is why investment in the interior repays itself more on this type than on aircraft with a long fuselage.
Of all the ways to improve a cockpit, this one is the quickest. The pre-painted part is taken out, cleaned of any remains of supports if need be, tried dry and seated into the model — nothing is painted or given a patina, as the finished look is part of the component. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, applied in minute drops with a pin, so that the varnished surface is not splashed; any overflow can no longer be sanded away without damaging the paint. Before seating it, check whether the fuselage halves will close without pressure, and thin the cockpit walls down gently if need be. That is the whole difference from a full photo-etched set, where the same result is put together from dozens of cut and bent components, which then have to be painted as well.
It is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
