A pre-finished photo-etched set for a model of the Douglas B-26K Invader in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. By its code the set belongs to the Zoom family, that is a smaller group aimed at the most visible parts of the cockpit, for example the instrument panel, the panels and the seat belts. It is neither a full photo-etched set nor the bundle of several sets that exists for the same aircraft under its own designation. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory to one.
The B-26K Invader was a rebuild of the older twin-engine A-26 Invader bomber for use in limited-intensity conflicts in the 1960s. The rebuild covered a strengthened wing structure, more powerful engines and tip tanks, so that the aircraft could manage long patrol flights with an external load. The cockpit of the Invader shows clearly on a finished model thanks to the glazing and the massive instrument panel, and that is exactly where a photo-etched set comes into its own.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not by twisting. Make the bends over the edge of a photo-etch bender or a razor blade, smoothly and in two goes. Bond with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, or with a glue made for photo-etch; ordinary cement for plastic will not join metal. Sand the raised plastic detail that the photo-etch replaces away carefully first, so that the new part sits flat. Protect the pre-finished surfaces from solvents and apply matte varnish only lightly and in a thin layer.
The set contains photo-etched parts only; it is not a model kit. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
