Trumpeter 1:350 HMS Dreadnought 1907 is an injection-molded plastic kit of the landmark British battleship that gave her name to a whole category of ships. The hull can be built as a full hull or as a waterline model.

An injection-molded plastic kit of the British battleship HMS Dreadnought as she appeared in 1907, from Trumpeter in 1:350 scale. The extensive kit contains a finely shaped hull with a suggested wooden deck, gun barrels with hollow muzzles from a slide mold, a metal anchor chain and several photo-etched parts. The hull is split for building either a full hull or a waterline model. A stand with a plate and decals are included.
HMS Dreadnought was the ship that in 1906 began a new era in battleship construction. She was the first to carry a uniform heavy main battery, the all-big-gun concept, and the first to use steam turbines for propulsion, which gave her a speed unheard of until then. The combination of uniform heavy armament and turbine propulsion made all older battleships obsolete at a stroke: they were given the collective name pre-dreadnoughts. The whole new category of ships was then named after Dreadnought. She entered service in 1907 and became the flagship of the Home Fleet.
Choose full hull or waterline in advance. The gun barrels with their hollow muzzles come out well when cleanly deburred. Glue the metal anchor chain and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue, and the plastic parts with liquid cement for plastic. Paint with an airbrush: for the period around 1907 a uniform darker naval gray with lighter superstructures and a black lower hull is appropriate. Tone down the suggested wooden deck, accent the panels subtly and add discreet patina. Apply the decals over a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
