Track-Bed™ Strips (Bulk Pack) - N Scale

Track-Bed Strips (Bulk Pack) - N Scale from Woodland

A foam track bed for N scale track in the form of ready-made strips, in a package marked Bulk Pack, that is in a larger quantity. It is not a model and not a kit but material for building the formation of a line. A strip is laid along the route of the track and makes the bed straight away, so there is no marking out and no cutting of shapes from a sheet.

When to reach for strips and when for sheets

Strips are the quick choice for plain running track, where the bed only follows the route. Sheets, on the other hand, you will value where a wider continuous area is needed, under turnouts, in the tracks of a station or in an engine shed. A larger package makes sense the moment you are building a longer stretch or a whole layout at once and do not want to buy material in parts in the middle of work already under way.

Work tips

• Draw the route of the line on the board and run the strips exactly along the mark.
• On curves press the strip down along its whole length, so that it does not lift on the outer side.
• Meet the ends of strips on a straight stretch, not in the middle of a curve or on a turnout.
• Cut with a sharp knife with a fresh blade: a blunt blade tears foam instead of parting it.
• Lay the ballast only on a finished bed, otherwise it runs under the edges.

Who it is for

For builders of layouts in N scale who lay a longer line at once and want the bed to hand in one package. It serves just as well on a railroad diorama, where the line is meant to look believably laid and at the same time to run quietly.
