The Douglas B-26K Invader bomb bay 1:48 is a photo-etched brass set from Eduard for a faithful rendering of the bomb bay area of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a photo-etched brass set aimed at the bomb bay, not an airplane model. The fine photo-etched parts sharpen up the walls, the stiffeners, the mounts and the structure of the bomb bay area, which the set makes it possible to show open and richly detailed. The parts are in bare brass and are bent and glued before painting. The scale is 1:48 and the set is made for plastic models of the B-26K Invader bomber.
The B-26K (later the A-26A) was an upgraded and strengthened version of the Douglas Invader attack bomber intended for counter-insurgency operations in South East Asia. It was given more powerful engines, strengthened wings and extended options for carrying armament in the fuselage and under the wings.
Cut the matching plastic elements away, bend the brass parts gently and bond them with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting, treat it with a primer and spray it with an airbrush; the broken-up bomb bay area comes into its own once the shadows are brought out with a wash and gentle weathering added.
This is an add-on set, not a model. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
