E-2C Hawkeye 1:48 (Eduard) — painting masks

A set of painting masks in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard for the Grumman E-2C Hawkeye carrier-based early warning aircraft. The masks are pre-cut from yellow Japanese kabuki tape and serve for masking the extensive glazing of the pilot's cockpit and the wheels while paint is sprayed. It is not a model: the kit itself has to be obtained separately.

The real subject

The Grumman E-2C Hawkeye is an American twin-engined turboprop carrier-based airborne early warning and control aircraft. Above the fuselage it carries a characteristic rotating saucer-shaped radome with a surveillance radar and serves as an airborne command and surveillance station for a formation of warships. The subdivided glazing of the pilot's cockpit with its many frames calls for careful masking when painting.
