F-104G Starfighter - a resin cockpit set 1:48 with the C-2 seat is a detail accessory of the brand Aires. It replaces the plastic cockpit of the base kit; on its own it is not a model of the aircraft.

This resin set is a replacement interior of the cockpit, not a kit of an airplane. According to the name it is fitted with an ejection seat of the C-2 type, which was used by the early operational Starfighters before a later ejection system took their place with a number of users. Aires has long specialized in resin cockpits: the casting carries the instrument panels, the side consoles and the structure of the walls in a form that an injection mold cannot manage for technological reasons.
On a model of a fighter with a sliding canopy the cockpit is permanently in view. A replacement resin interior gives depth and legibility where the plastic part offers only suggested relief. At the same time it makes it possible to build the model with the canopy open without the empty space looking out of place. Which particular items the package contains and in what number is stated on the box.
Count on sanding work. Resin cockpit tubs tend to be somewhat bulkier than the plastic original, so the inner walls of the fuselage are commonly thinned and dry tests are made to see whether the fuselage halves will join without a gap. Proceed in small steps and test more often rather than less. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surface with wet sandpaper; respiratory protection is in order. It is assembled with super glue. Painting proves itself from the bottom up: a primer, the base shade of the interior, then a dark wash in the recesses to bring out the instruments and finally a dry brush on the edges. Finish the seat and the belts separately and fit them right at the very end so that they are not damaged.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
