A resin ejection seat for the F-105D Thunderchief (1:48) — a resin replacement seat with faithful detail for a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detail set in resin holding a faithfully cast ejection seat for a model of the American Republic F-105D Thunderchief fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane kit but an accessory that replaces the simplified seat from a plastic kit with a casting with worked upholstery, a harness and a headrest. Aires seats usually include fine photo-etched parts for the belts and the firing handles as well. Once painted, it markedly brings the space of an open cockpit to life.
The Republic F-105 Thunderchief, nicknamed the Thud, was a massive single-engine fighter-bomber designed for a fast strike at low altitude. It became the main striking force of the US Air Force over North Vietnam. A faithful ejection seat is one of the first details that catch the eye in an open cockpit.
First wash the seat free of mold release residue and only then glue and paint it. Cut the casting block off carefully with a saw and sand the cut surface. Bond resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate): ordinary plastic cement does not hold on resin. Photo-etched belts take on a very realistic look once they are shaped and painted. Sand wet and protect your airways.
This is a resin accessory, not a model or a standalone kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
