The Aires F-14A Tomcat exhaust nozzles (open position) 1:48 is a resin detail set for experienced modelers that replaces the engine nozzles on a kit. It is not an airplane model but an accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an Aires resin detail set, not an airplane model. The set renders the exhaust nozzles of both engines of the F-14A Tomcat carrier fighter accurately in the open, spread position, as they look after touching down on deck or while taxiing. It replaces the simplified parts from the base kit with more accurate castings carrying fine relief inside and out.
The Grumman F-14A Tomcat was a twin-engine carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, operated chiefly by the Navy. The A version was powered by a pair of engines with afterburner, whose nozzles moved with the thrust setting. The open position of the nozzles matches a lower thrust state and is typical of shots of the aircraft on the ground.
First wash the parts to remove any mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks carefully and sand the surfaces with your airways protected. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The metallic shades and the heat staining of the nozzles come out once metallic paints and a fine wash picking out the recesses have gone on.
The detail set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue, paints and further accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
