A sheet of decals with markings for the helmets and patches of F-14 crews in 1:48 scale from HAD models, for the squadrons VF-143, VF-213 and VF-41.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is not a model of the aircraft or a kit but a specialized sheet of decals in 1:48 scale. It contains markings for helmets and patches for the flight suits of Tomcat crews, according to the name for the squadrons VF-143, VF-213 and VF-41. You will use it on figures of pilots and navigators, which at a larger scale are often built beside a model or right in the cockpit. Check the exact number of designs on the packaging of the sheet.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier-based fighter with a variable-geometry wing. The A version was the basic production one, the D version a later modernization. The crew consisted of a pilot and a weapon systems officer, both in helmets with striking colored markings of their squadron. It is precisely these small things that make a figure beside a model a living element, but they are practically impossible to paint by hand, so they are handled with a decal.
Paint the helmet and the flight suit first and go over them with gloss varnish, so that the decal settles without haze. Cut the designs off close to the printing and soak them in warm water only briefly, as they are small and release quickly. On the curved surface of a helmet a softener will help, or gentle warming of the surface. Once dry, unify the surface with a matte or semi-gloss coat depending on the sheen the helmet itself and the cloth of the flight suit should have.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The figures, the model and the paints are not included in the package.
