The Eduard 1:48 F-14D TFace masking set holds templates for both the outer and the inner side of the glazing of a Tomcat model. The canopy frames therefore come out sharp from both points of view.

This is not a kit but a set of self-adhesive die-cut masks for a model of the two-seat F-14D fighter in 1:48 scale. The TFace designation means that the set holds masks not only for the outer side of the canopy and the windscreen but for the inner side as well. That makes it possible to spray the canopy frames from the inside in the interior shade and from the outside in the airframe color, so that they look right from both sides.
On the real canopy the frames are painted differently inside from outside. On a model with a large glazed area, which is exactly what the Tomcat has, the inside of the frames is clearly visible, especially when the model is built with the cockpit open. Without inner masks the frame stays transparent from the inside and the illusion falls apart. The set solves that difference with exact shapes that line up from both sides.
Mask and spray the inner side first, let the paint dry and only then apply the outer masks. Degrease the part before masking. Lift the masks with tweezers and press them down with a soft tool, so that the clear plastic is not scratched. Apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy coat leaves a step at the edge. Remove the masks shortly after the paint has dried and with a sideways pull. Any adhesive residue can be wiped away with a cotton swab and alcohol, carefully and away from the painted area.
This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
