These printed nozzles from Reskit replace the original parts of the Tamiya kit and bring crisply drawn segments and an internal structure that injection-molded plastic cannot manage. The version captures the nozzles in the closed position; if you prefer the open state, the manufacturer also has an open counterpart in its range. The package is a replacement accessory, and the Tomcat model is obtained separately.
The F-14D Super Tomcat represented the culmination of the development of the carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing. Compared with the original version it was given more powerful General Electric F110 engines, thoroughly reworked digital avionics and modern targeting systems. It served with the US Navy until 2006 and took its leave with combat deployments over Iraq as well, where it also worked as a reconnaissance and strike platform.
Paint the nozzles separately from the airframe: metal shades are the basis, which you then tint with smoky and bluish washes according to photographs. The interior is brought out by a fine dark wash settled between the segments. Fit the finished parts to the model only after the final matte overcoat; it will save you masking.
