A set of precisely cut masking templates of kabuki paper (washi) for spraying the glazing and the wheels of a McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle model in the A and C versions, 1:48 scale. The EXPERT level is the most complete: besides the cockpit glazing and the wheels it also contains masks for the frame seals and the inner side of the large bubble canopy, so the interior and exterior color of the frame can be set apart. It is not a kit but an aid for perfect painting.

The real subject

The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is an American single-seat air superiority fighter of the mid-1970s with a large bubble canopy and an excellent view. The A and C versions differed in their avionics, their radar and their internal fuel capacity; the C is the improved later variant.

Usage tips

• Apply the inner masks first and spray the interior shade of the frame, then deal with the outside.
• Mask the large bubble canopy carefully so that the mask seats into the curve.
• Kabuki paper follows the curved canopy and leaves no adhesive behind when removed.
• Remove the masks while the paint has only flashed off, for a crisp edge.
